Babwa Wawa: A couple weeks ago I saw a person in line at some retail store or another. Something looked funny about her glasses. Then I realized they had no lenses.
As a person who needs corrective lenses to see properly, I usually beat those people senseless and bloody with the nearest brick-like object to hand.

I for one am not looking forward to be inundated with POV videos from everyone in the world. I don't need a world where we think we're SOOOOOOO interesting that we need to look through other people's eyes at stuff... knowing full well that 95% of those feeds will look at the same things as everyone else.
The greatest technology in the world and we'll just end up looking at cats... hell, even robots do that now!

Actually, I don't think so. I think something very like Google Glass will be popular, but their current implementation looks like shiat. Microsoft's approach was better- it was a necklace that constantly recorded.
That idea- the elimination of intentionality- is the future. I shouldn't need to decide to take a picture. I should be able to say, after the fact, that there was a picture I wanted. The system should be smart enough to combine the image data with voice commands to filter out which specific subset of frames I actually want. It's easy enough to tell which ones are blurry, which ones contain a clear subject, etc.
None of that is cutting edge technology. It's just that nobody's put it together in that arrangement, yet.

Fun fact: the first glasses were not for vision correction at all. They had flat glass panes for lenses, and were worn as a fashion accessory ("Look towards me, yon peasants; verily I am riche enouf that I may put windows upon myne face.")

Mayhem of the Black Underclass: I've been wanting AR glasses for a while now. Tried to source the parts 12 years ago, couldn't find a decent battery that wasn't a car battery. Lithium is here now, and better engineers are on the job. I can wait for a commercially available product.
Same here. Although I prefer some of the different designs that were developed, rather than the frames they are using currently.
Can't wait for this to finally be a reality.

They're still trying to figure out a good way to measure a person's power level, and how best to calibrate the scale.

1) Makes it easier to get things done on the go. Usually I have a check list on my phone / tablet so when I am out and about. I can keep track of what I need to do. With these glasses, its a good objective list.
2) An actual mini map like we see in gaming. Something like that, naturally not used during driving unless done correctly when it comes to visibility, could be really useful in not getting lost. This can also be used by malls and other entertainment centers like amusement parks. Download the map and you have everything literally displayed for you in your eye.
3) Add a camera on it and you can have a POV picture / video of whatever you want.
3.1) If they could get it to magnify / zoom with the camera and a PIP function. I would personally love it cause it would make reading motherboards easier.

1) Makes it easier to get things done on the go. Usually I have a check list on my phone / tablet so when I am out and about. I can keep track of what I need to do. With these glasses, its a good objective list.

I love this too. I am a huge Star Trek fan and I watched the Star Trek special, How William Shatner Changed the World, was awesome. The idea that flip phones were invented cause of the Star Trek communicator is awesome. And I love the idea that I am living in the era where Sci Fi and reality are mixing.

You can focus a HUD out to infinity. A deeper issue, I think, is the solipsistic nature of the display. It'd be more useful if I could project the display out onto the world and share it with others. It's a much more powerful way to mediate reality than a mere HUD- and it's probably technologically more practical. There are physical limits to how small you can make a HUD projector, driven by the lenses required. If you remove it from the face and put it someplace where size isn't as much of a concern, I think you'll get more mileage.
I strongly suspect that a face-mounted HUD is going to end up being much like voice recognition: a cool idea that doesn't actually have much real-world value.

I dunno, I'd be fairly interested to check out a POV camera of a pro skater doing tricks on a vert ramp at the X-Games, a freerunner doing stunts for an afternoon, or a journalist in a war zone. I don't care about anyone else's mundane lives, either, but I'd be really interested in checking out first-hand video from things I could never do.
