  • Healthy? Gluten Free?

  • or you can buy any of the other snack cakes that copy them

/time to get bootstrappy and get used to another cupcake you cupcake
  • I bought and ate a Hostess cupcake last night. It was disgusting. Beef fat? Titanium? The FIRST ingredient is sugar FFS. This whole thing seems like natural selection. Make a good product and don't make bad business decisions (looking your way, unions), and you stay in business.
  • Yes we could make them at home but would they be able to survive a nuclear holocost?
  • I don't want healthy! I want a farkin Twinkie!
  • Or wait til a new company starts selling them. And don't eat those either because you're over 30 and eat real food that is way better when you're high.
  • I found super sized marshmellows at Wallmart.

I put one on a plate in the toaster oven and watch that sucker like a hawk. Swells up to the size of a softball with a flat bottom. Once it gets a bit toasty, I gently press the now softer top and add coconut and toast some more.

    Better than snoballs.

Unions? No, how about when Hostess filed for bankruptcy, they immediately gave raises to their executive staff upward to 100%. We're talking wages beyond the total annual salary of dozens of line workers. ...but you can keep parroting that anti-union propaganda if it makes you feel better. I'm just saying you're looking at the wrong antagonist in this story.
  • What sno-balling in the kitchen may look like...

On second thought, better not link that...
  • Gee, I almost never heard of this sort of thing 20 years ago. Thanks for the heads-up, subs!

That makes sense. Running a company in serious trouble usually requires much better executive compensation. It's riskier to careers and it's much harder work.

And it's a tiny sliver of money compared to what the union members were demanding.

The company was bankrupt and the investors put in a huge amount of money to bring the company back, and they wanted to make a profit. Profit was impossible due to the union demands, so now all the employees have lost their jobs in a bad economy to lose a job (thanks Obama!).

If they weren't happy with their pay they should have quit instead of costing their friends their jobs.
  • Did you see those people on your local news channel last night, walking out of the Hostess outlet store with bags and bags of twinkies and cupcakes?

Yeah, I don't ever want to look like that.

I'm no fan of unions but to lay blame with management is just as myopic (more IMO but whateva). The real culprit is any number of external societal factors.
  • Oh great subby, now we're going to have illegal junk food labs exploding creamy filling left and right.

The right-wing attack on unions is nothing more than ignorance, lack of education, and propaganda.
    Enjoy your weekend, tard.

The Bakers were the holdouts, and they stopped negotiating with management. They called management's "bluff"... only it wasn't a bluff, and the company has to liquidate. Oops!

Even the Teamsters were critical of the Bakers union & their handling of this shared issue.

This is not a "right wing" issue... but go on derping the derp.

/Fiscal reality has a right wing bias?
  • Unions have destroyed our country.. they are an out of control monster... unions and the EPA.... bye bye america....
  • Icetech3: Unions have destroyed our country.. they are an out of control monster... unions and the EPA.... bye bye america....

Now THERE's the right wing derp!
  • Onions have destroyed our country.. they are an out of control vegetable...onions and the USDA... bye bye america...
  • I blame the chocolate creme filled twinkies. Those were farking revolting.
  • The unions had already made big concessions in the bankruptcies dating back to 2004. They have every right to expect a living wage, and it's pretty obvious after years of failure that the hedge fund owners don't want to run the business anymore. Their only way out is to liquidate the brand.
