  • "Deputies found the bodies of a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman in the basement of the home."

Police couldn't get to the bodies because the corpses were guarded by a Gimp.

  • FTA; "A person has every right to defend themselves and their homes, even employing deadly force if necessary," said Michel Wetzel, Morrison County sheriff. But the sheriff said circumstances of this incident led deputies to believe Smith went beyond that point.

    Do ya think?
  • If I ever shoot a burglar it'll be with a shotgun. The pigs will know. Everybody in a 2 block radius will know. I'd be happy to go on TV to say I did it and I only regret there weren't more goblins to shoot.
  • But I was within my rights to kill them! Now I have to turn over the bodies, too?! But officer, I was going to imitate the triumphant battle scene of Achilles at the sack of Troy, dragging the corpse of Hector behind my chariot! Was I not supposed to do that?

Yeah, but you don't get to keep the corpses.
  • judging by the mugshot he doesn't have any eyes. So perhaps he just didn't notice.
  • You will also have desk duty for a couple of weeks.

/waiting a few more days to take the trash out isn't going to hurt anything.
  • I am confused.. if you keep the bodies that is Second Degree murder, but if you call the coroner and turn them over there are no charges (as long as you can prove you shot them in your home in self defense). I can maybe see some type of lesser charge, but murder for defending yourself in your own home?
  • Let's not jump to conclusions, Farkers.

We don't even know what color the "burglars" were yet.

By concealing the corpses and failing to report them right away, you've lost that presumption that you were ONLY defending yourself in your own home. Now the police have to assume that something else was going on, because why else would you not have told them the truth right away?

Now, perhaps nothing WAS going on, but you see where the police can no longer take this guy at his word, he was merely defending himself?
  • Man this guy must have REALLY liked The Chronicles of Riddick.

I'm no lawyer, but I think you've put this in a nutshell.

Sorry folks, it isn't like shooting a varmint, if you kill someone you DO have to report it. Otherwise people will assume foul play. Even if you can prove they are burglars.

Well, in the guys defense, if it ends up being legit, I know a few people that lose track of time once an "event" is done. Or they just don't seem to realize that notifying someone would be a good idea in a timely manner. Could be one of those... I mean, the 2 dead aren't going anywhere, and they probably didn't start smelling yet. And, from the article, I don't get the vibe he chopped them up, or put them in the freezer.

    Just saying.
  • you need a police report, they might jerk you around for 2 weeks. maybe he didn't have a chance to 'write this one up' yet.
  • FTA: "Police responded to a home around 1 p.m. in the 14000 block of Elm Street, north of Little Falls, on reports of suspicious activity Friday afternoon, Nov. 23."

Wonder what the "suspicious activity" might have been.
The shots fired around noon the day before ?

On Elm Street? I'm guessing there are lots of reports of suspicious activity related to sleep deprivation...

This is why every state needs a "Stand Your Ground" law.

    / trolling
// & not very good at it
  • I always hang my corpses outside the house as a warning to other potential burglars.

From the looks of their pictures on Facebook, nuthin' but white bread: https://www.facebook.com/RipNickBradyH aileKifer

I'm also guessing they're gonna need some rape kits for the corpses...
