  • Ingratitude is a terrible thing.
  • He's a veteran who's clearly had some psychiatric problems, so the most important thing in this thread is to mock him. Remember that.

The second most important thing will be to talk about how all homeless people are scammers who make tons of money by panhandling and nobody should ever give them anything.

I foresee anecdotal evidence. Sweet, sweet, anecdotal evidence.
  • Hell, if that's all true he's practically an entrepreneur.
  • Tough shiat, you're on a public street in public view.
  • read the article, nevermind
  • I'm reminded of that episode of South Park where Canada goes on strike for more Internet money.
  • And next week we find out the police officer is actually a fireman.

In all seriousness, I still think the cop did a good deed and that's very commendable.
  • Yet another example of how much of the "homeless" problem in this country is actually an "untreated mental health issues" problem. Homelessness is just a symptom of a larger problem.
  • I wish the news would run a story on the "NYC Douchebag Gives Barefoot Homeless Man Idea He's Owed Millions Off Of Photo".

Id like to hear how the homeless guy actually got that idea. And then listen to the douchebag who gave it to him try to explain how he was wrong considering it was taken in a Public Right Of Way.
  • first, if he has someplace to stay why is he sitting on the sidewalk with no shoes? did he expect a cop, of all people, to give him a pair?

second, put my picture all over the internet when i'm in a bad spot and i'll want a cut too.
  • The cop is still a hero.

Throw 'em on the streets or in jail. That ought to solve the problem. Or so we thought back in the 70's and 80's ...
  • I'd like to know how many refrigerators he has.

If your bad spot includes being in plain view of the public on property paid for and maintained by the public then you can want your little heart out. Just dont count on getting paid.
  • i wonder if he was mentally ill before serving his country, or as a result of. either way, he served. it blows my mind that veterans are not hailed and treated as heroes by our farking government. if i was Great Dictator i would make damn sure anyone who had the balls to war for me was treated like a god. i don't understand this country, i never will.

My sister's boyfriend is like that. He has a story about how he used to give money to panhandlers till this one time, he gave the guy $5 and he pulled out a wad of bills and added the $5 to it as he thanked him.

It was probably like $15 in ones, honestly...
  • I read a different article that said the guy sold the boots because he wanted some pie.

So very true...but not everyone, just the ones who saw combat. If you served and sat in a bunker in Nevada flying drones, you are awesome..but not Godlike imo

i think it could go either way in court.
  • This is why I don't give money to panhandlers. They're all full of shiat.

I don't blame him. I believe this is how Eddie Murphy started his Hollywood career.
  • Hillman has lived in Veteran Affairs Supportive Housing since 2011.

As a former homeless veteran, I can say that is marginally better than being homeless.
  • FTFA: A few days after the viral photo was posted, The New York Times found Hillman barefoot again and asked about the $100 all-weather boots. Hillman said he'd hidden them because "they are worth a lot of money."

Something is clearly wrong with this man. I wonder what he was like before he went coo-coo.

It took 21 posts. I'm a little surprised it took that many, honestly. But it is late/early, so that's probably a factor.
