  • Chelsea says that the customer told her manager that their reputation had been ruined by having the receipt posted on Reddit.

His reputation was ruined by something he did that he thought was right?

    I don't get it.

Shouldn't he be happy this received national attention?

If you write something on a receipt and then sign it, where is the expectation of privacy?

Especially when it's an ideological statement to a stranger in a public place.

Agreed.  When restaurants first started to do mandatory auto-tips on large groups, I could understand people being caught unaware and being peeved.  But it has become common practice for some time here in the States.  If such a policy exists, it generally is listed on the menu, especially for chains like Applebees.  If you don't like it, leave.

The guy could have made a generic note of protest about the auto-tip.  Instead he had to be a douche and bring religion into it.  The fact that he wanted half of the restaurant to be fired because his shiat was called out by the world just goes to show what a petty and nasty little excuse of a human this pastor is.  I hope his identity is made public so he can be mocked relentlessly.

Having said that, the waitress was in the wrong for not blurring out the signature on the receipt.  Reprimand, sure.  Fireable offense, no.  As for identity thieves getting the signature, chances are that the pastor's signature is already online in some public records database.  The deed to my house is online with a crapload of identifiable info, including signature.

I hope he gets defrocked for being not only a jackass, but unChristlike. It's the least they could do for the least among us, y'think?

Can a pastor be 'defrocked?'  I thought that was only for priests.

WTF does this Jew know about certifying men of cloth? Kick him out, make him a heretic, 39 lashes in the public square, refuse to give him communion, he's gotta wear a red A around his neck, a day in the stocks, shove a living snake up his ass, make him fight the lions, lock him in a rectory and force him to listen to Andy Gibb's Shadow Dancing for eons and eons, publicly shame him (religiously - "he does not represent Christ's teachings or message"), make him get an abortion - whatever it is they do to pastors to remove them from the position.

    Do that.

So, what you're saying is that he should be disciplined, somehow?  You're being a bit vague here.

He wants the right to be abusive in private, where no one may intervene on behalf of the victim of his abuse.

If Applebees had any kind of backbone or moral compass, they could have taken this one to the bank and responded publicly with something similar, stating they won't be a party to it by teaching people that speaking out against an abuser is wrong.  Instead, they did what too many people do: conflict-avoidance by enabling abusers and asking - nay, demanding - victims accept their abuse in the interest of the greater community's peace of mind.

The more I think about it, the more I concur with this.  The original incident may not rise to deserve it, but getting her fired over it does.

Depends on the denomination.  It would appear from The Smoking Gun article her "church" has a congregation of 15 and services are held in a rented out store front.  I'm betting this particular denomination consists of the pastor and her flock and that's it. I bet she's charging those 15 congregants a tithe for the privilege, too.
  • Well that will certianly calm the situation down.
  • DammitIForgotMyLogin: Why are you all referring to the pastor as "he"?

Something.. something.. about black people tipping.

Heh. I have a bit of a rage-reserve for when religious leaders act like total farksticks. Probably comes from knowing far too many - both good and bad - and the bad ones always seem to be more bad than the good ones are good.

Also, when a core part of religion is "set a good example for others", failing to do that in such an astounding way seems to me to be the #1 Thing Not to Do. If anything, fellow believers should be clamoring for a better leader far louder than jackasses with Fark accounts.

I always liked how we had an example of a good and a bad religious leader in the Laramie Project - about Matthew Shepherd's murder.

I've seen much more passable trannys down by the airport.
  • "Applebee's has made it clear that they would rather lose a dedicated employee than lose an angry customer. That's a policy I can't understand."

Sounds like she has no understanding of the retail/restaurant industry then.  Too bad for her.
  • What an unappetizing melange of dumbfarks.
