ontariolightning:Cnn keeps mentioning people are emotional. No shiat sherlocks. You dont have to continuously explain why people are crying and shaking. Worst news network ever
It's for the sociopaths out there who don't understand human emotions. Why won't anyone think of the sociopaths? They're real people too, sort of.
I was led to believe this kind of thing would stop happening after Bill Pullman and Helen Hunt got that trashcan full of bubble gum machine prize containers up in that big tornado way back in the 90s.
The Downfall:Just realized they are saying this one was over 2 miles wide. Joplin 2011 was 1 mile (158 dead in an F5). Tuscaloosa 2011 was 1.5 (64 dead in F4). Moore 1999 was 1 mile (41 dead in F5)
I didn't know it was possible for a tornado to be that big. Is that actual size or just debris field?
Skyfrog:megalynn44: That is freaky. They zoomed in on the school and there was an exposed interior wall with all the backpacks still neatly hanging on the hooks.
It's weird how that happens. I've seen pictures of buildings with most of the walls gone and yet there would still be cups and things sitting neatly on the dinner table.
It sounds very bad about the third grade class, from the looks of it just doesn't appear very hopeful for them. I wonder why they weren't evacuated with the other classes?
Well, it sounds like half the school was evacuated, so if I had to guess it was just a time thing. They probably evacuated as many as they could before time ran out. Sending a bunch of kids outside in a dangerous storm to move to a new building is just as risky as sitting tight.

Didn't work. They have stuff like it now that works I believe though.
A tornado hit Moore, but did it hit any other cities? I'm trying to find a map to show the path, but I can't and I'm worried about some family to the NE of there.
WizardofToast:I just heard a hospital was leveled but evacuated. I don't know if that was the one my mother's in.
Fark. Texting her and she hasn't replied yet. I want to say she's either hustling or still hanging out in the shelter and didn't know I texted.
Hey. I'm sure that the cell towers that are still working are probably overwhelmed with traffic. She may not have even gotten your text yet. I hope she's alright. She'll call you as soon as she can, I'm sure.

It probably has something to do with Bill PAXTON being in that movie, not Pullman. :/
ArtosRC:jshine: They're all disaster tourists; some just get paid for it & show their footage on TV.
Yes, the professional documentation of a catastrophic meteorological event is disaster tourism. Or course it is.
If you're driving around in a van pointing a camera at a disaster scene and contributing nothing else, then well, that's what it is.
If by "professional" you mean "I draw a paycheck for this", then I suppose you're right. They are paid. Then again, so are some of the storm-chasers. ...but whether they get paid or not, they're not really contributing much to the situation at hand.

Poor Moore, it has some bad luck.
News9 had drawn a path map, but they haven't shown it but the once. :/
Watching all of this reminds me of the hopeless feeling I had when I lost my home and nearly all my stuff in an F3 a few years back. But, that was just stuff, not people. Thoughts go to families affected.

God. They should be fined.
Have they reported that the tornado was traveling 17 times the speed of light yet?

Why aren't all the schools on the coasts built on stilts? or equipped with gigantic water pumps?
shiat costs money. You do a cost-benefit analysis and hope for the best. The way every other place on earth does.
