The police then asked for IDs but two of them responded by yelling an expletive. That apparently offended the cops and lots of officers started approaching.
Austin cops have always been super-cool to me and my friends, but I've heard enough stories about some real meat-headed policemen there that the article isn't as shocking as it ought to be. I'm interested in the follow-up.
"As is standard protocol, the Chain of Command will review the Response to Resistance and the incident to determine what led up to the events captured in the video and whether the officer's actions were in compliance with APD policy," the Austin Police Department said.
Was it casual friday at the local precinct? I can see shorts for the bike cops, but the one that pulled up in the squad car had shorts on, too.
Way to de-escalate the situation, too. Can't handle some talk-back from a group of beatniks, you should find another job. If step 2 is "beat the shiat out someone", maybe you're not cut out for public service.

Wait, wait.. don't tell me... they're going to find that the officers' actions were entirely in line with department policy, yes?

Why isnt the jaywalking or interaction between the group of yutes and the po leece where the vid starts.
I mean when a vid shows up that only starts say after a car crash you cant tell if the driver was texting or speeding or if its totes someone elses fault.
What happened that made the guy start his camera?
Maybe hey be dickheads to provoke a response by the cops who want to speak with you after watching you jaywalk and ill film it an get yall paid....its as valid as anything anyone else says since the lack of video cant prove or disprove anything.
Harry_Seldon:qorkfiend: Harry_Seldon: Don't antagonize the police. Get your little jaywalking ticket, or more likely, a warning, and go about your life.
Why do people say this as if it excuses police brutality?
Two wrongs don't make a right.
I'm dying to know why you think that's got anything to do with anything.

That's my thought as well. So, yeah, the idiots started cursing at you. Shouldn't you, as arguably the most visible public servant, be willing to take a little verbal abuse? I'm not saying people should do that to the police, but for crying out loud you gotta kind of expect this near 6th street in Austin; the entire area is really a drunk walk in the wee hours. Jaywalking is probably the least worrisome thing going on down there. I have seen fights, pissing, farking (or damn near), people puking into plants/onto cars/over curbs, and more. So yeah: that area is probably not going to be the area where law enforcement is going to get the most respect Just deal with it, knowing that they are going to wake up feeling a lot worse than you, even without a beating.

Because some people are really dumb. Note I am not calling him dumb, I am assuming that was satire.

Cuz it would never happen to them and they know it.
