    fark that shiat.
    Capital punishment.
    No appeals.

    That shiat will cease.
  • My phone is set to block all calls not on my contacts list. Problem solved.
  • My wife and I don't own pets or have children, because, frankly, we're better than you people. I also don't own a TeeVee and I use a non-ironic rotary phone with a private proprietary number so I don't have the same problems with robo-calls that you plebeians have.
Pretty much King Sh*T of F*ck Island over here
  • "The financial rewards of bothering people on the telephone are clearly greater than the risks."

This was endorsed when the banks, mortgage companies and pharmaceutical firms got the same treatment, along with an apology from a certain political party for the inconvenience.

  • DecemberNitro: Rung?

that's when you stand up and have to chase the other player around the ring of people.
  • I mean, we could require telephone companies to make sure that their networks can't be hacked with fake origin numbers as a start. But that would cut into profits.
  • My land line has the ringer turned off. Problem solved. Use Email if you want to talk to me.

  • A wealthy trader had installed a telephone line between his home and office, one of the first in Chicago. One weekday, according to a 19th-century newspaper called the Electrical Review, a smartly dressed man identifying himself as Thomas Jefferson Odell knocked on the trader's door and asked his butler for use of the house phone. The butler obliged. Odell called the trader at his office. "The cook, the chambermaid, and your wife are lying here bound and gagged," he told him, asking for $20,000 in ransom. The trader delivered the cash to one of Odell's accomplices, then rushed home to find his wife in fine shape and none the wiser.

See, at least back then, the scammers dressed up. I bet these robo moguls wear sweatpants.

I'm quite confused as to why this isn't done and the article completely fails to explain that. How hard could such a court case be? "Judge, here's the law, and here's the list of calls". What's the defense against that?

I never answer my phone when it rings.  If it's important, they can just call me again later.
  • I recently ditched my land line and my evening meal times are no longer disturbed.  Even though I had the number on the do not call list, I got survey calls, donate to the whatever calls, and a number of robocalls for people running for office, etc.  It was a good move and we made the move to cells only without any hitches.

That's all well and good but I have customers that call me on my personal cell. I tell them that I may not answer if I don't recognize the number and if I don't to leave me a message...that is an almost perfect indicator that a living breathing humanoid has called me.

I used Nomorobo for a while and it worked quite well. A few leakers but nothing compared to what I was getting. I now use  AT&T call block which is not quite as good a Nomorobo but the price (free) is right. I highly recommend either.

Public execution will slow this crap down really quickly.

I also like to waste their time.  I pick up the phone, say "hold on one minute," and put the phone down.
  • I have a job search app on my phone. Every single job alert I get is for a call center, no matter what I do to adjust the settings.

Telemarketers should be nuked from space.

Yeah the article said nothing about how they're outwitting the government or why they're getting away with it.

They have to track down the source of the robocalls first.  Even if successful with that, there's little or nothing they can do if the source is outside the US using VOIP to call.

Typo, Mongols. Robo-call mongols slashing and burning telecom like the golden horde.
  • I get a ton of Robo Calls in my cell phone which always match my area code and first 3 digits of my phone number.

Now I know to never answer the calls that come from that format.

/Usually don't answer any call from a number not in my contacts.
